The construction site at Althan Quartier, where our projects Francis, Hotel and Joseph are located, is making significant progress.
Under the name Francis, we are transforming the terminus station and the office building above it from an obstructive barrier in the middle of the district into a transparent, accessible centrepiece of the new Althan Quartier – Vienna’s largest conversion project in 2024. The redevelopment is especially resource-efficient: compared to demolition and new construction, 18,625 tonnes of CO2 will be saved, representing a 67% reduction. Steel and concrete from the existing building are being incorporated and reused as part of a modern repurposing concept.
A new and unique district centre is emerging on the 2.4-hectare site above Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof. This will include offices, co-working spaces, restaurants, convenience stores, shops and services, high-quality apartments, as well as a hotel and an underground car park.
The hotel and car park are located as an extension of AQ1 Francis, within the original office building complex above Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof. To the east, on Nordbergstraße, is the newly constructed residential ensemble Joseph, characterised by thoughtful architecture that blends harmoniously into the urban surroundings and offers innovative living concepts.
